Abstract: | Salt stress reduces N2 fixation by causing a reduction in nodule number, nodule weight, and nitrogenase activity in legumes. Emerging evidence from He et al. now suggests that glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3) phosphorylates nodulation signaling pathway 1 (NSP1) in response to salt stress, reducing its DNA-binding activity, and thereby causing a reduction in nodulation. |
